THIRST--a masque opera
four musicians and twelve singing actors 2006
Collaborative development include additional music by Stephen Fandrich, story and libretto by the composer with additional text by Colby Bradley and other ensemble members. In addition to being the principal author, I was also the stage director and producer for the premiere which took place May 18-21, 2006 in Seattle.

Supplication
dramatic scene for soprano, contrabassoon and tubuloon, 2003
Scene inspired by parallels between current events and the Mahabharata, the Indian epic of the bitter rivalry between two sets of cousins over control of the kingdom. The setting is sometime between the present and the future. The issue is not a politically defined kingdom but control over water, symbolic of life itself. The Supplicant sings in an unknown language. Meaning and emotion are conveyed through the voice, movement, and sound.
